Plantz: Known by all, but done well by so few

It would behoove all Americans to read the situation under which Francis Scott Key was enthused to write his highly praised four-stanza poem “In Defense of Fort McHenry” which was later put to music and its title then changed to “The Star Spangled Banner.”

Singer/actress Chistina Aquilera was the latest celebrity to botch the singing of the national anthem at the recent Super Bowl before 110 million viewers. Christina was castigated for the accident and for improvising the melody. She was not the first and won’t be the last to hesitate while singing the contentious anthem. Some Americans want “God Bless America” to be our national anthem instead.

Popular Pop singer Whitney Houston belted out the greatest anthem version I ever witnessed while Roseanne Barr lays claim to the nastiest and most awkward performance ever. Don’t yet get me ongoing about Chiefs’ fans singing “and the home of the Chiefs” in place of the “brave.”
